IT-Security Startup Enginsight receives funding from the Federal Ministry

  • 2020

With a volume of 0.64 million euros for the period from April 2020 to March 2021, the Jena-based Startup Enginsight will receive grant funding within the StartUpSecure program of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The targeted support of innovative IT security start-ups is intended to ensure the successful establishment of future-oriented security solutions on the German market.

How Enginsight ensures security

Enginsight offers the most efficient solution for the increasing challenges of IT security in German medium-sized businesses. The 100% internally-developed software enables companies to automatically monitor and analyze the security of their entire IT infrastructure within minutes. Information about security gaps or configuration deficiencies are presented as well as information on live cyber attacks that are currently taking place. With the capability to simulate hacker attacks, customers can also change their vantage point in order to subject their entire IT infrastructure to a resilience test.

The easy-to-interpret results and concrete recommendations for action help companies to take proactive action before cybercriminals cause damage. A failure of the IT infrastructure or the outflow of sensitive data can thus be prevented at an early stage.

Tailwind through StartUpSecure

BMBF funding supports the technical and entrepreneurial development of Enginsight. One of the aims of the grant funding is to use machine learning to analyse and evaluate the ever-increasing streams of data. By deploying machine learning, the administrative burden can be kept low and the technology can be made available at low cost, particularly to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Mario Jandeck, CEO at Enginsight: «The funding by StartUpSecure is another recognition of our unrivalled technology stack, which we are very happy about. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s program provides unique financial and organizational support that will help position Enginsight as a key cybersecurity software provider in the German market».

Max Tarantik, Head of Business Development at Enginsight: «Our product has already developed very well, butwe still have big plans to make the topic of IT security more accessible for medium-sized businesses. With the help of the funding, we will progress and evaluate new technological developments. To do this, we can use various marketing opportunities and hire new employees».

About StartUpSecure

With the aim of bringing good ideas in IT security into practical application more quickly using novel and unconventional approaches, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) launched the «StartUpSecure» initiative. It is part of the «More Opportunities for Start-ups» initiative with which the BMBF supports Germany’s start-up culture in science and research.
