NovaPump GmbH, a young cardiology company from Jena, closed another round of financing with bm|t (beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh) – a subsidiary of the Thüringer Aufbaubank – and Sparkasse Jena-Saale. “This funding will allow the company to develop its technologies and products in the field of cardiac support for acute patients and then, together with partners, gain product approval,” said Katrin Uschmann, Investment Manager at bm|t.
The aim of NovaPump is to develop a pumping system to support the heart in the event of right-sided heart attacks and other weaknesses of the right ventricle. “The technological and patient-oriented benefits of our PERKAT™ technology are the 100% catheter-guided implantation; the self-expansion of the heart pumps; the high pumping capacity with low construction complexity; the ECG-controlled, pulsatile pump support and the non-medical understandability,” explained Dipl.-Ing. Ronald Reich, CEO of NovaPump. Scientific contributions to PERKAT™ (percutaneous catheter pump technology) were adopted in 2015 in international cardiology conferences and in leading journals for publication. PERKAT™ is patent-protected in the major industrial countries and target markets.
Nova Pump – founded in 2012 – is a specialized medical company from Jena that, together with an external network of partners, develops and markets products for interventional cardiac support. In the company, multidisciplinary expertise is united. Nova Pump closed its first round of financing in 2013 with HTGF (High-Tech Gründerfonds).
