Catheter-based right-sided heart pump from Jena will be further developed: bm|t and Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland to provide financing

Nova­Pump GmbH, a young car­di­ol­ogy com­pany from Jena, closed another round of financ­ing with bm|t (beteili­gungs­man­age­ment thürin­gen gmbh) – a sub­sidiary of the Thüringer Auf­baubank – and Sparkasse Jena-Saale. “This fund­ing will allow the com­pany to develop its tech­nolo­gies and prod­ucts in the field of car­diac sup­port for acute patients and then, together with part­ners, gain prod­uct approval,” said Katrin Uschmann, Invest­ment Man­ager at bm|t.

The aim of Nova­Pump is to develop a pump­ing sys­tem to sup­port the heart in the event of right-sided heart attacks and other weak­nesses of the right ven­tri­cle. “The tech­no­log­i­cal and patient-ori­ented ben­e­fits of our PERKAT™ tech­nol­ogy are the 100% catheter-guided implan­ta­tion; the self-expan­sion of the heart pumps; the high pump­ing capac­ity with low con­struc­tion com­plex­ity; the ECG-con­trolled, pul­satile pump sup­port and the non-med­ical under­stand­abil­ity,” explained Dipl.-Ing. Ronald Reich, CEO of Nova­Pump. Sci­en­tific con­tri­bu­tions to PERKAT™ (per­cu­ta­neous catheter pump tech­nol­ogy) were adopted in 2015 in inter­na­tional car­di­ol­ogy con­fer­ences and in lead­ing jour­nals for pub­li­ca­tion. PERKAT™ is patent-pro­tected in the major indus­trial coun­tries and tar­get markets.
