SAMAG Saalfelder Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH, one of the current 45 portfolio companies of bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh, acquires all shares of AGA Zerspanungstechnik Gera GmbH.
With this acquisition, SAMAG GROUP, one of bm|t’s largest investments, is able to systematically strengthen its business sector automotive. AGA is a company specialising in the manufacturing of high-precision turned, milled and broached parts primarily used in the premium sector of the automotive industry. The company employs about 120 people and expects a turnover of approximately € 11.5 million in 2012.
“SAMAG is acquiring a strong business. With the manufacturing capacities in the metal-cutting field and, in particular, AGA’s competence in turning, we can superbly supplement SAMAG’s strengths in ‘milling, drilling and broaching’” explains Sebastian Knedlik, Investment Manager at bm|t.
Following the change of ownership, SAMAG focuses on continuing the successful business of AGA and maintaining the existing supply relationships before acquiring new customers in the next step. With this purchase SAMAG is following the objective of utilising existing synergies, increasing its growth rate and thereby strengthening its competitive position.
Quite recently SAMAG was also successful in another sector. Its innovative drive concept ‘LEANTEC‘ was awarded numerous prizes and was distinguished as the overall winner in the IQ Innovation prize for Central Germany 2012. “Now the AGA acquisition is proof of SAMAG’s capability in traditional technologies” Christian Damjakob, bm|t’s managing director says.
In the Machine Tools business division SAMAG Saalfelder Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH specialises in multi-spindle horizontal machining centres.
