bm|t sells its shares in CadCabel AG

Hohen­gan­dern – bm|t beteili­gungs­man­age­ment thürin­gen GmbH, an Erfurt-based man­age­ment com­pany and sub­sidiary of Thüringer Auf­baubank, has sold its share­hold­ing in Cad­Ca­bel AG, Hohen­gan­dern through Thüringer Indus­triebeteili­gungs-GmbH & Co. KG (TIB) to the board of direc­tors of the com­pany and the founder’s fam­ily. “The fact that Cad­Ca­bel can now present itself as a suc­cess­ful player in the mar­ket is due in large mea­sure to TIB which, with its com­mit­ment dur­ing the dif­fi­cult devel­op­ment and start-up phase, gave us tremen­dous sup­port”, states Peter Hanzel, chair­man and founder of Cad­Ca­bel AG.

Cad­Ca­bel AG is a busi­ness within the elec­tri­cal sup­ply indus­try. Founded as a one-man busi­ness by Peter Hanzel in 1998, Cad­Ca­bel, with con­trol­ling cap­i­tal par­tic­i­pa­tion from bm|t/TIB since 2001, has been devel­oped and man­aged on the mar­ket in the form of a pub­lic lim­ited company.

The com­pany man­u­fac­tures ready-to-install cable har­nesses for switchgear wiring. It is an area in which the com­pany pos­sesses a unique tech­nol­ogy. Whereas the assem­bly and wiring of elec­tri­cal cab­i­nets is nor­mally very time con­sum­ing as a result of hav­ing to read off all of the required infor­ma­tion from wiring dia­grams and man­u­ally con­nect­ing every wire indi­vid­u­ally, Cad­Ca­bel, with its “bun­dle tech­nol­ogy”, offers a pre­vi­ously unknown, extremely fast and reli­able method of wiring. Using an auto­mated process, the ready-to-install cable har­nesses are man­u­fac­tured with wire diam­e­ter, length, colour, mark­ing and wire fer­rules all taken into account. With the appli­ca­tion of this process, the assem­bly and wiring times for con­struct­ing elec­tri­cal cab­i­nets are reduced by an aver­age amount of more than 50%. Fur­ther­more, with no com­pro­mise on safety, the process also makes it pos­si­ble to wire the elec­tri­cal cab­i­nets using exclu­sively semi-skilled per­son­nel in place of the oth­er­wise nec­es­sary specialists.

In order to take advan­tage of the ratio­nal­i­sa­tion poten­tial of the Cad­Ca­bel bun­dle tech­nol­ogy, cus­tomers must adapt their pro­duc­tion process, involv­ing them in extended test phases. Through­out this intro­duc­tory phase Cad­Ca­bel fully sup­ports these cus­tomers with pilot and turnkey projects. The total con­cept, up to and includ­ing sys­tem inte­gra­tion with the customer’s work­flow sys­tem is devel­oped in CadCabel’s own soft­ware depart­ment. “Our sta­mina has been rewarded”, says Dr. Guido Bohnenkamp, man­ag­ing direc­tor of bm|t and TIB. “Today, Cad­Ca­bel has a per­ma­nent, suc­cess­ful posi­tion in the mar­ket and, with around 60 employ­ees, attains a turnover of approx­i­mately 6 mil­lion euros. In the light of this suc­cess­ful devel­op­ment we have decided to trans­fer our share­hold­ing to the founders and their families. “
