bm|t sells its shares in CadCabel AG
Hohengandern – bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen GmbH, an Erfurt-based management company and subsidiary of Thüringer Aufbaubank, has sold its shareholding in CadCabel AG, Hohengandern through Thüringer Industriebeteiligungs-GmbH & Co. KG (TIB) to the board of directors of the company and the founder’s family. “The fact that CadCabel can now present itself as a successful player in the market is due in large measure to TIB which, with its commitment during the difficult development and start-up phase, gave us tremendous support”, states Peter Hanzel, chairman and founder of CadCabel AG.
CadCabel AG is a business within the electrical supply industry. Founded as a one-man business by Peter Hanzel in 1998, CadCabel, with controlling capital participation from bm|t/TIB since 2001, has been developed and managed on the market in the form of a public limited company.
The company manufactures ready-to-install cable harnesses for switchgear wiring. It is an area in which the company possesses a unique technology. Whereas the assembly and wiring of electrical cabinets is normally very time consuming as a result of having to read off all of the required information from wiring diagrams and manually connecting every wire individually, CadCabel, with its “bundle technology”, offers a previously unknown, extremely fast and reliable method of wiring. Using an automated process, the ready-to-install cable harnesses are manufactured with wire diameter, length, colour, marking and wire ferrules all taken into account. With the application of this process, the assembly and wiring times for constructing electrical cabinets are reduced by an average amount of more than 50%. Furthermore, with no compromise on safety, the process also makes it possible to wire the electrical cabinets using exclusively semi-skilled personnel in place of the otherwise necessary specialists.
In order to take advantage of the rationalisation potential of the CadCabel bundle technology, customers must adapt their production process, involving them in extended test phases. Throughout this introductory phase CadCabel fully supports these customers with pilot and turnkey projects. The total concept, up to and including system integration with the customer’s workflow system is developed in CadCabel’s own software department. “Our stamina has been rewarded”, says Dr. Guido Bohnenkamp, managing director of bm|t and TIB. “Today, CadCabel has a permanent, successful position in the market and, with around 60 employees, attains a turnover of approximately 6 million euros. In the light of this successful development we have decided to transfer our shareholding to the founders and their families. “
