Gallileus literature portal moving from Berlin to Thuringia
- bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh is supporting the further development and growth of Gallileus
- Gallileus is operating successfully in the high growth literature and knowledge management market
Having successfully completed its foundation phase in Berlin, Gallileus is now moving to the provincial capital of Thuringia. The reason for this, apart from its central location in Germany from which other large-scale internet companies also began their successful growth, is the financial support provided by bm|t via the Thuringia innovation fund. Gallileus now has around 40,000 registered members and is one of the leading internet portals in the higher education field.
“We want to create attractive jobs in Erfurt, a city which, with its university and its university for applied science but also in respect of its tradition of housing great scientists, is the ideal location for us. The commitment shown by bm|t resulted in our decision to move our headquarters to Erfurt. From here we intend to consolidate our position in the literature and information management market and provide for strong growth internationally”, said Ute Rother, managing director of Gallileus.
At present, Gallileus employs five staff and is immediately seeking five more staff for the areas of sales and marketing, public relations and technological development of its literature services. In Erfurt, Gallileus will above all focus on extending its services for the literature community.
Gallileus was founded in order to offer “knowledge workers” efficient access to online services for literature searches. In this context, there is a particular focus on specialist publications in academic fields. A unique and continuously developing search engine provides users of Gallileus with a convenient method for finding and ordering literature. The range includes new and second-hand books, e‑books, disertations and newspaper and journal articles. The search engine is complemented by the knowledge management products “Literature Management” and “Literature Alerts”. Gallileus also gives authors in scientific or academic fields the option of publishing specialist articles or lecture materials on Gallileus. Gallileus is to be found under www.gallileus.info
