Gallileus literature portal moving from Berlin to Thuringia

Hav­ing suc­cess­fully com­pleted its foun­da­tion phase in Berlin, Gallileus is now mov­ing to the provin­cial cap­i­tal of Thuringia. The rea­son for this, apart from its cen­tral loca­tion in Ger­many from which other large-scale inter­net com­pa­nies also began their suc­cess­ful growth, is the finan­cial sup­port pro­vided by bm|t via the Thuringia inno­va­tion fund. Gallileus now has around 40,000 reg­is­tered mem­bers and is one of the lead­ing inter­net por­tals in the higher edu­ca­tion field.

“We want to cre­ate attrac­tive jobs in Erfurt, a city which, with its uni­ver­sity and its uni­ver­sity for applied sci­ence but also in respect of its tra­di­tion of hous­ing great sci­en­tists, is the ideal loca­tion for us. The com­mit­ment shown by bm|t resulted in our deci­sion to move our head­quar­ters to Erfurt. From here we intend to con­sol­i­date our posi­tion in the lit­er­a­ture and infor­ma­tion man­age­ment mar­ket and pro­vide for strong growth inter­na­tion­ally”, said Ute Rother, man­ag­ing direc­tor of Gallileus.

At present, Gallileus employs five staff and is imme­di­ately seek­ing five more staff for the areas of sales and mar­ket­ing, pub­lic rela­tions and tech­no­log­i­cal devel­op­ment of its lit­er­a­ture ser­vices. In Erfurt, Gallileus will above all focus on extend­ing its ser­vices for the lit­er­a­ture community.

Gallileus was founded in order to offer “knowl­edge work­ers” effi­cient access to online ser­vices for lit­er­a­ture searches. In this con­text, there is a par­tic­u­lar focus on spe­cial­ist pub­li­ca­tions in aca­d­e­mic fields. A unique and con­tin­u­ously devel­op­ing search engine pro­vides users of Gallileus with a con­ve­nient method for find­ing and order­ing lit­er­a­ture. The range includes new and sec­ond-hand books, e‑books, dis­er­ta­tions and news­pa­per and jour­nal arti­cles.
