New therapy from Jena for kidney stones

bm|t beteili­gungs­man­age­ment thürin­gen gmbh is to take shares in the newly formed com­pany Advanced Shock­wave Tech­nolo­gies GmbH/Jena. The injec­tion of cap­i­tal by bm|t will finance the devel­op­ment, pro­duc­tion and mar­ket­ing of new, inno­v­a­tive equip­ment for kid­ney stone therapy.

Non-intrusive Therapy for Kidney Stones

The tech­ni­cal basis for the new equip­ment is pro­vided by shock wave treat­ment, as it is called, in which kid­ney stones are bro­ken down with­out sur­gi­cal inter­ven­tion. The founders of the com­pany, Dr Werner Schwarze and Hugo Stephan, are inter­na­tion­ally recog­nised experts in this field and have many years of man­age­ment experience.

As well as shock wave treat­ment, patents owned by AST GmbH also pro­vide a fur­ther basis for the devel­op­ment of the equip­ment, which is notable for its ease of han­dling and low inci­dence of side-effects.
